将棋倶楽部名人戦は海外の会員も参加されます。海外の会員が情報源としている掲示板に
ルール変更の概略を以下のように投稿しました。

Hi shogi fans.

Shogidojo meijinsen registration started from December 1 but the
rules has been changed from the last one. The major changes include:

1 INTRODUCES ELIMINATION

Meijinsen particiants are divided into 50-player league and through
elimination round which takes place from December 30 to January 29.

To pass the first elimination round you must have at least 3 matches
during the period.

Top 25 player will proceed to the tertiary round from February 17 to
March 31. The rest of players who had three or more matches will
proceed to the second preliminary rounds. (The date and time are
fixed and no change allowed)

2 TIME LIMITATION

You can play meijin-sen game only from 21:00 to 24:00 JST, Friday to
Sunday during that period. If you start the game by 24:00 the game is
counted.

3 NEW TITLES

Meisho titles were abandoned and new titles, Hisha(Rook), Kakugyou
(Bishop),Kinshou(Gold), Ginshou(Silver) Keima(Knight), Kyousu(Lance),
Hu(Pawn) and Shijin titles are newly introduced.

PROS and CONS

PROS: Number of participants will be increased and more opportunity
for you to find the opponent.

CONS: For some people time limitation could take away the mood of
participating. Such as shift workers, service workers shopowners and
so on.

STRATEGY TO PASS THE ELIMINATION

Contrary to general beliefs you might not be able to have so many
matches. 3 at most in a single day and one or two on average.
Difficult to have more than 10 matches during that period. So if you
pass the 1st elimination the next you should think about is to have
much winning games as possible. 3 point you gain by winning is so
great.
